Vera Miles is an accomplished actor with a career that spans more than five decades. Born in Boise City, Oklahoma, in 1929, Miles began her acting career in the late 1940s, and soon after established herself as a popular leading lady.
Miles starred alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including John Wayne, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, and Burt Lancaster. However, it was her work with the master of suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock, that would catapult Miles to even greater fame.
Miles made her first appearance in a Hitchcock film in 1958’s Vertigo, where she played the dual roles of Madeline and Judy. The film was a critical success, and Miles’ performance was praised for its emotional depth and complexity.
Miles went on to work with Hitchcock again in 1960’s Psycho, where she played the sister of the iconic doomed protagonist Marion Crane.
