Lesson about Terminator 2: Judgment Day

One lesson we can take from the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991 is that technology can be both a helpful tool and a destructive force.

The Best of Terminator 2: Judgment Day

  • 1) Cutting-edge special effects: Terminator 2: Judgment Day was a groundbreaking action film when it was released in 1991 due to its advanced special effects, including the use of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). The film pushed the limits of what was possible in movie-making at the time, resulting in some truly spectacular and innovative visuals that still hold up today.
  • 2) Memorable characters: The film features a cast of strong and charismatic characters, including Sarah and John Connor, the T-800 Terminator, and the unstoppable T-1000. Each character has their own unique motivations and dynamics, driving the plot forward while also giving audiences something to care about.
  • 3) Engaging storyline: The plot of Terminator 2: Judgment Day is gripping from start to finish, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The film offers both high-octane action scenes and quieter moments of character development, resulting in a well-rounded and memorable cinematic experience.

Week points of Terminator 2: Judgment Day

  • 1. The plot is predictable: While the special effects of Terminator 2 were groundbreaking at the time, the storyline itself was rather predictable. The Terminator is once again sent back in time to protect John Connor from a more advanced T-1000 assassin. While there are some slight deviations from the first film, most of the major plot points are very similar.
  • 2. The dialogue can be cheesy: While T2 is certainly not the worst offender when it comes to cheesy dialogue, there are still some cringe-worthy moments in the film. Whether it’s John’s catchphrase “Hasta la vista, baby,” or some of the Terminator’s overly-mechanical lines, there are moments where the dialogue takes away from the otherwise intense action.
  • 3. The film lacks depth: Despite the high stakes and non-stop action, Terminator 2 doesn’t delve very deeply into its characters or themes. While Sarah Connor’s characterization is certainly improved from the first movie, most of the other characters are relatively one-dimensional. Additionally, while the film touches on some interesting themes such as the nature of humanity and the risks of technology, it doesn’t explore them in depth.
